After the success of their sell out summer production of La bohème
at Graves Gallery Sheffield, Opera on Location begin 2015 with a modern take on Mozart’s comic one act opera The Impresario. This high spirited opera depicts two fierce sopranos battling it out to perform the principal role in the Impresario’s latest production.
The Impresario will be sung in English and features singers from past productions including Andrea Tweedale, (Mimi - La bohème) Chloe Saywell (MusettLa bohème)
and Gareth Lloyd (Rodolfo - La bohème). During the second half we showcase our wonderfully talented singers including Matthew Palmer, (Demetrius - A Midsummer Night’s Dream) Rosie Middleton, (Oberon - A Midsummer Night’s Dream) Sarah Ogden, (Hippolyta - A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Aidan Edwards (Marcello - La bohème) performing their favourite moments from a range of different operas including Rigoletto, The Valkyrie, The Barber of Seville and many more.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
1756-1791
The stories of Mozart’s prodigy are well known and his brilliance is recognised throughout the world. He began playing the keyboard at the age of 3 and started composing at 5. He was a touring musician by 6 and before his 12th birthday had written two operas! Of his 22 operas, many of them are frequently performed today including Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro, Cosi Fan Tutte and The Magic Flute.
