Paul Hindemith: a profile


Hindemith was not only a great composer but also an extremely talented conductor, theorist and string player.

 

Born 1895 / Died 1963

 

Hindemith came from a poor family however, his father recognised his musical talent at a young age and arranged private music tuition for him, which eventuled to his job at the Frankfurt Opera Orchestra.


It was whilst playing at the opera house that he was noticed but the conductor Fritz Busch who then agreed to stage the premieres of Hindemith’s first two operas Mörder, Hoffnung Der Frauen and Das Nusch-Nuschi.
